The Situation: A previous benefits consultant of a local advertising and public relations firm failed to get an employee’s newborn on the medical plan within the 30-day regulatory requirement. The newborn was experiencing medical issues that were burdening the employee with extremely high claims costs. After almost 90 days had passed and the incumbent benefits consultant had still yet to add the dependent to the plan the firm appointed DSG as their agent of record in the hopes of rectifying this costly issue.

The Results: Within 10 days after making the decision to switch to DSG, we were able to successfully add the newborn to the company’s medical plan retroactively to the time of birth with no preexisting conditions. Although DSG can never guarantee these types of exceptions to be made on its client’s behalf, our strong carrier relationships afford us the opportunity to speak to senior management and underwriters whenever necessary in order to exhaust all options.
